    Background & Career Path

What inspired you to pursue a career in law?

My journey into law was initially fuelled by my passion for legal studies at school.

However, my real inspiration came from a more personal place–when I was about 12, my mum, an avid triathlete, was involved in a serious incident on the road. Witnessing her struggle through her claim left a profound impact on me, because she didn’t receive the fairness she deserved.

That experience instilled in me a desire not just to pursue a career in law but to dedicate myself to ensuring that my clients never feel unsupported in their claims.

Where did you study law, and what are your academic qualifications?

    • Bachelor of Laws (Honours) / Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) at the Queensland University of Technology
    • Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law

    Expertise & Specialisation

What areas of law do you specialise in, and what attracted you to these areas?

I specialise in the compensation space, with a particular focus on incidents that happen at work. I’m attracted to this area because it’s not just about understanding the law, it’s about uncovering various pathways to success for our clients. I also enjoy making a significant difference to our clients’ lives.

What professional achievement, or particular case outcome, are you most proud of?

My proudest achievement was being admitted into the legal profession in February 2022. This milestone was particularly significant for me because I managed to work full-time while also studying full-time throughout my undergraduate degrees and during my practical legal training.

Another achievement that stands out was settling my first case as a lawyer.

    Philosophy & Mentorship

What do you believe sets Trilby Misso apart from others?

What sets Trilby Misso apart from other firms is the one-on-one nature of mentorship and support. As a result, we get a lot of hands-on experience.

What trends in the legal industry interest you the most?

Artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact in our area of law captivates me the most.

This is for two reasons. On one side, we have the emergence of smart cars and related technologies, which are set to change the landscape of motor vehicle incidents.

On the other side, there’s a growing use of AI to draft legal documents, such as defences and statements of claim. While the unique insights and empathetic understanding lawyers provide cannot be replicated by AI, the integration of these technologies is exciting.

What advice would you give to someone starting their career in law?

You are going to get rejections, but it just takes one person to believe in you and take you on – don’t be discouraged!

    Challenges & Learning

Can you talk about a significant challenge you’ve overcome in your career?

No significant challenges yet. However, no doubt there’s one around the corner.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned during your tenure in law?

    Compassion is key.
